The Albion Hotel
The Brief
Vivus was appointed to deliver the interior design for the complete refurbishment of The Albion Hotel, a landmark seafront hotel overlooking Freshwater Bay on the Isle of Wight. Dating back to the early 1700s, the hotel underwent an extensive restoration and modernisation, with our role covering room layouts, furniture plans, lighting design, colour palettes, fabric and tile specifications, and the overall interior concept. The design sought to honour the hotel's Victorian heritage while creating a refined coastal destination for today's guests.

Our Design Approach
Our concept centred on a 'Victorian Chic' aesthetic, blending elegant period influences with a soft coastal palette inspired by the surrounding landscape. Throughout the bedrooms, restaurant, bar and residents' library, we introduced layered textures, carefully considered lighting and timeless detailing to create a relaxed yet sophisticated atmosphere. A consistent design language runs throughout the hotel, helping every space feel connected while enhancing the building's Victorian character and creating the comfort expected of a contemporary destination.
