The Lightship Restaurant
Brief
We were appointed to redesign The Lightship, a historic floating restaurant at Haslar Marina, Gosport, transforming it into a distinctive waterfront dining destination. Working closely with the team at Boatfolk from the outset, we developed a complete interior design scheme that reflected the vessel's rich history while elevating the guest experience with a refined, contemporary aesthetic. The refurbished restaurant opened in June 2023, establishing a unique hospitality destination on the South Coast.
Our Approach
Inspired by the Lightship's remarkable past, we created an interior that subtly referenced the different eras of the vessel's service without relying on obvious nautical themes. Rich textures, carefully layered lighting and bespoke detailing were combined to create a warm, sophisticated atmosphere, while thoughtful space planning ensured each deck offered its own character and purpose. The result is a timeless hospitality environment that celebrates the Lightship's heritage while offering a memorable dining experience.
