Maple Project

Brief

Developed in collaboration with the homeowners and Modh Design Architecture, Maple House involved the complete transformation of a substantial family home in Ryde, Isle of Wight. Although originally built in 2000, the property was designed with a traditional architectural language, providing the perfect foundation for a warm, contemporary country interior. Alongside a significant double extension, we created a complete interior scheme spanning six bedrooms, four ensuite bathrooms, a family bathroom, two additional WCs, a gym, study, open-plan kitchen, dining space, snug, utility room and entrance hall, carefully considering how each space would support modern family life while feeling connected as part of a cohesive whole.

Our Approach

Working from the earliest concept stages through to completion, we developed a fully integrated interior design package that extended far beyond finishes and furnishings. Alongside detailed room layouts, lighting design, colour palettes and material selections, we produced an extensive bespoke joinery package, combining concept sketches with technical drawings to bring unique furniture and architectural details to life throughout the home. During implementation, we remained closely involved, collaborating with the architect and contractor while sourcing and specifying every element of the interior, from the DeVOL kitchen and decorative lighting to furniture, fabrics and accessories, ensuring the finished home felt considered in every detail.

Challenges & Constraints

  • Bringing warmth and character to a relatively modern property without feeling contrived.

  • Creating a seamless flow between the original house and the substantial new extension.

  • Designing spaces that could accommodate both busy family life and entertaining.

  • Coordinating an extensive bespoke joinery package across multiple rooms.

  • Maintaining a consistent design language throughout a large home with a diverse range of spaces.

  • Collaborating closely with the architect and contractor to ensure every design detail was realised as intended.
